Annual Boat Festival

Picture

The annual Boat Festival  is held in October, it is supposed to last only a week but the feasting goes on continuously for a week before as well. It’s the start of the dry season so parties are everywhere  so not much work or studies get done.

You can see many videos on You Tube to get a feel for the fun, music, noise, crowds, food and beer during these Festivals.

The Lao are experts in organizing parties, relaxing and enjoying themselves, milling around by the hundreds confronting all situations with a smile.

I’ve never seen a fight or disturbance at these popular Festivals; it’s impossible to have such public events in France or the UK, drunkenness and fighting would spoil everything.
