Golf& Heat

For the past 3 months it's been very hot, over 40° most days, one of the hottest periods that Laos has ever known with only a few showers in over 6 months.
Never the less we get out golfing for at least 9 holes twice a week even in the hottest part of the day, like “mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun”40°-45° sun from 10am to 2pm.
There are always a bunch of 11-14 years old kids to jump in to the lakes to fish out golf balls and sell them back to us at €0.2 each
I feel like joining them in the pond to cool-off
Caddies carry umbrellas and pull the golf trollies and we keep-up our supply of water and beer but after 2 to 3 hours we’re ready to stop.
Wemust be crazy, no buggy, we always walk to get the exercise, drinking litres of water then Beer Lao afterwards and never need to go for a pee...all the water comes out as sweat..... and tears when we miss easy shots!
For my fellow golfers, don’t forget that Oct to Marchis the best season to play golfwith temperatures between 25° and 35° and little rain.
We play Sundays and Wednesdays all year round, choosing between the 5 courses around Vientiane.
