Food Shopping
I still get around on my scooter (2013) and do my shopping at the local market.
Below are photos of my Butcher, live Fish and Vegetable counters.
I do my shopping after playing golf on Sundays, there’s always a party going on and I’m often invited to drink a beer-Lao or two with them.
Pork and chicken are €3 per kilo, beef about €5/kilo.
Grilled duck ready to eat is about €7/kilo, cooked spring rolls are 10 for €1….and €0.80 for a bottle (66cl) of Beer Lao. My retirement income is ample to eat well on these prices.

Baguettes
I've discovered a baguette delivery service with a guy who comes around almost every morning on a motorbike with a big bag of baguettes on the back. He peep peeps outside of my house until I go down to buy a baguette hot and fresh from his "bakery" for 0.30 €cents. The French occupation for over 50 years taught the Lao a few useful things, fortunately one was how to make baguettes!
